Yellowstone Wolf: Tracking the Packs
Yellowstone's wolf packs—Madison
It is unknown when this pack formed and some researchers speculate that it formed years prior to 2010, when it was designated as a park pack. The Madison pack had been located in western portions of Yellowstone in 2009, for example. This pack produced five pups during 2010 and shortly after emigrated outside of the park in Idaho. In 2012, tracking efforts in Idaho found this pack to be persisting as a non-park pack.
